Central to the operation of CSML is our Board of Directors. These diverse yet like-minded individuals bring to the table a collective wisdom to effectively guides our organization. By their leadership and through their guidance, we are better able to maneuver the complexities of the nonprofit world with the common objective of feeding and helping our neighbors in need.
Christina Hansen, is the President of the Board of Directors. She was elected to the Board in February of 2014. She retired from the private bookkeeping service that she started 30 years ago, and currently works with her husband keeping books for his construction company, Moses Lake Construction Company. She has worked as a bookkeeper in several local businesses, a large corporation in California and as part owner of a mechanical and welding business in Albany, Oregon. She has been a dedicated volunteer at the food bank since May, 2010.
Shelly Detrick, Director. She is presently employed as the Assistant Vice-President Relationship Manager, Small Business Banking for Washington Trust Bank. In 2011, she was elected as Commissioner of the Port of Ephrata. She is currently serving as a Board member and was past President for the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake. She was a past State board member of the Autism Society of Washington and held the roles of Treasurer and President of the Autism Support Group of Grant County.
Scott Garrett became a member of our Board in June 2011. He recently retired as Vice President and General Manager of Columbia Bean & Produce Co., Inc., where has been employed for more than 30 years. Scott is the Assistant Treasurer of the Moses Lake Christian Missionary Alliance Church and currently serves on a finance committee for the Moses Lake Christian Academy.
Stroud Kunkle, CPA, is the Secretary and Treasurer of Community Services of Moses Lake, and has served as a member of our Board since 1994. He has been in business as a Certified Public Accountant for 33 years. Stroud is currently a member of the Rotary Club, served 12 years on the Moses Lake School Board, and served 6 years on the Big Bend Community College Foundation Board.
Tom Chaplin became a member of our Board in 2001. He was President of CSML from 2010 to 2017. He owned a Farmers Insurance Agency in our community from 1981 to 2017. In 2017 he sold his agency. He and his wife moved to Yakima WA to help with a family business. After 3 years they have moved back to Moses Lake. He is prior President of Life Underwriters for the Columbia Basin and a member of Lake City Foursquare Church. Tom was reinstated to the CSML Board in 2021.
The Moses Lake Food Bank is pleased to announce that local attorney Michael Glen Earl has been elected to its Board of Directors. Michael’s appointment reflects a longstanding commitment to the Moses Lake community and a deep-rooted desire to help families in need.
Raised in Moses Lake, Michael is a third-generation attorney who returned to his hometown to raise his family and serve the people of the Columbia Basin. He is a founding partner of Earl and Edwards, PLLC, where his legal work is centered on helping individuals and families navigate complex challenges—particularly in the area of personal injury. Michael has been practicing law in the Columbia Basin since 2013, where he had a general practice prior to founding Earl and Edwards PLLC.
Michael is known for building long-term, trust-based relationships with his clients and for bringing integrity, diligence, and compassion to his legal work. He is fluent in Spanish and regularly assists Spanish-speaking clients in accessing justice and support during difficult times.
Outside of his law practice, Michael is a dedicated husband and father of five. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, and participating in his community. He is also an Eagle Scout and served in scouting leadership for a few years as an adult as well. Michael was a professor of Business Law at Big Bend Community College for 6 semesters, where he enjoyed mentoring the next generation of legal and business professionals.
Michael’s appointment to the Food Bank board is a continuation of his lifelong involvement in the community. He sees food access as a critical pillar of well-being and looks forward to helping the organization expand its services and impact across central Washington.
